Course Descriptions






Driver Education Course
          The Driver Education course is a 16 hour course and consists of 8 hours of classroom instruction and 8 hours of in-car instruction and driving. Classroom instruction will be four hours long per day for two days and the driving portion will be two hours long per day for four days. This course is designed for the beginning drivers who wants to learn to drive and for the experienced driver who wants to sharpen their driving skills. In this course the student will learn basic driving techniques, defensive driving techniques and the fundaments of driving in winter conditions.

Defensive Drivers Course
          The Defensive Drivers Course is an 8-hour, National Safety Council approved course that is designed to teach drivers how to avoid collisions and to develop safer driving habits. This allows for a two point reduction or a two point credit for one year on an individual's driving Record.

    Defensive Driver Course Cost: $95.00


DMV Road Test
          Cherokee Riders is a State certified "Third Party Tester" for conducting Class D Road Test.

    DMV Road Test cost using your vehicle: $50.00
    DMV Road Test using our vehicle: $90.00
Please note: If you are under the age of 18 years you are required to have your Alaska State Approved Driver's Permit for at least 6 months before you are eligible to take the DMV Road Test. In addition, you must be accompanied by your parents or guardians.



Basic Motorcycle Course
          The Basic Motorcycle Course is a 15-hour course, consisting of 5 hours of classroom instruction and two 5 sessions. The class is $250. Bike rental for this course is available.
